Apu Inka is a Peruvian cultural music group performing live music with singing and dancing. Our goal is expressing the inca culture based on the connection with Mother Earth and the respect for the three elements, the source of life. We do this through music, dance and story telling from the three distinct regions of Peru: the coastal area, the Andes mountains and the Amazon forests. Apu Inka uses a diverse variety of costumes and musical instruments such as guitar, charango, kena, panpipes, bombo and tinja. Apu Inka performs on cultural festivities, ideological meetings, South American restaurants, commercial and private parties and on schools.

Here, the leader, Alma Inkary, was born in the province of Apurimac. When he became 18 years old he started travelling in South-America. All he had was his guitar and his voice as his musical luggage. He lived and travelled two years in Ecuador. He travelled through Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and other countries, he lived for a year and a half in Brazil, and he travelled sixth months in Colombia and six months in Venezuela. In 1989 this circular tour was ended.
In Venezuela he played together with the 'Amautas'. These musicians were invited to come and play in the Dutch Antilles. There he formed the duo 'Exprecion Andina'. For this he made a cultural/musical program about the Incas. This program was played at the theatre of Curaçao and they took it to all the primary education schools of Curaçao and Aruba. It became a huge success and the 'Casa Cultural' recommended them to come to Holland.

Alma Inkary went alone and in Holland he formed his group Apu Inka. Alma Inkary: 'the goal of our group is to present the music of our province Apurimac. We show to the people our authentic clothing from the mountains as well as we make music that comes our of our hearts.
As a group we are engaged on the authentic singing in Quechua en we use mainly original wind instruments and percussion instruments, like : pututu, kena, tina and bombo. Our music impersonates the contact of our people with nature while working on the land. We want to experience this contact actively with our audience through singing and dancing.'
Apu Inka plays for instance at party's , at restaurants, schools and at cultural meetings. The basis program is a musical show, native, spiritual of the Andes. By mutual arrangement it is possible to compose several programs.
